Newbury Building Society donates more than £1260 to Sue Ryder Wokingham Day Hospice

Newbury Building Society’s Wokingham branch was delighted to present Sue Ryder Wokingham Day Hospice a cheque for £1265, following a range of fundraising activities during 2018.

Fundraising activities included the in-branch events such as seasonal hamper prize draws, the competitive ‘name Santa’s baby reindeer’ Christmas competition, donations towards the popular #YourNBS annual calendar and a gruelling 100km virtual-cycle challenge during the summer’s heatwave.

Abi Hurst, Community Fundraiser at Sue Ryder Wokingham Day Hospice commented: “We are so grateful to Newbury Building Society Wokingham Branch. Debbie, Charlotte and the rest of the team do such a wonderful job supporting us by helping us raise vital funds and also volunteering at the day hospice. The money raised last year is enough to pay for a syringe driver to give constant symptom relief for patients."

Branch staff also donated their two-day volunteering allowance towards maintaining the hospice garden.

Branch Manager’s, Deborah Gadd and Charlotte Hall, at Newbury Building Society’s Wokingham branch said: “We are delighted to award Sue Ryder with a cheque worth over £1250. Sue Ryder is a fantastic charity which we whole-heartedly support, and the amount raised is a testament to how hard the team has worked to raise as much money as possible during 2018. We would like to thank the public for their kind donations and continued support.”

Sue Ryder (1052076) provides person-centred hospice and neurological care for people facing life-changing diagnosis. They do whatever they can to be a safety net for patients and their loved ones at the most difficult time of their lives.
