Volunteering

Does your organisation need a helping hand?

Society employees get two days of paid volunteering leave a year, to use on projects and causes they're passionate about.

Whether as a team or an individual, we wholeheartedly encourage volunteering and all of the positive benefits that it brings not only to our communities, but our day-to-day working lives.

What have our teams been up to on recent volunteer days?

  • Built tortoise houses and painted, tidied and sorted donations at The National Animal Welfare Trust near Hungerford.

  • Cleared invasive plants and built bug hotels with Beggarwood and Old Down Volunteer Group in Basingstoke.

  • We helped to improve and create a range of gardens and outdoor spaces for Sue Ryder Duchess of Kent Hospice near Wokingham, Brendoncare Foundation in Alton, Newbury and District Cancer Care in Thatcham, and Prior's Court School in Hermitage.

  • Painted and repaired go-karts at Swings & Smiles in Thatcham.

  • Prepared lunch for vulnerable and homeless people at Trinity Winchester, and also helped out at Christmas!

Need volunteers?

If your organisation is local to one of our ten branches, and you're in need of volunteers, we might be able to help! Please email marketing@newbury.co.uk with a description of your task and someone will be in touch.

I am so pleased to hear they all enjoyed the day, the Newbury Building Society team stormed through the tasks and I know the grounds team and eventually the young people that move in will be so grateful of their new gardens, we literally couldn’t get through it all without volunteers so thank you so much to them.
