Winchester branch improvements - update

Update: 12 October 2023

In September, we temporarily closed our Winchester branch to make some improvements. Whilst closed, we've been serving our Winchester branch members through other branches, online and by post and we thank you for your patience while we have undertaken this work in the branch.

Reopening date confirmed

We are very pleased to confirm we are completing the refurbishment and to announce that our new-look Winchester branch will re-open to members on Tuesday 24 October at 10.00am.  Our colleagues in branch are looking forward to welcoming back our existing customers to the refurbished branch, and to welcome new customers who simply want to look around or find out how we can help them with their savings and mortgage needs.

New changes to Winchester branch opening hours

While the branch has been closed for refurbishment, we have been reviewing our in-branch services and operating hours, and supported by feedback from our colleagues and members we have made the decision to increase the Winchester branch opening times when it reopens to members. We hope this change will continue to support the needs of our members, and we will review our hours again at the end of January 2024.

Since the pandemic, we have seen a number of high street banks announce branch closures, some of which have been in our branch towns. There has also been a shift by other financial providers to reduce opening hours, citing the increase in the use of online services as the reason for reduced branch servicing.

Our approach to customer service remains one of both online and branch services (which we often refer to this as a 'bricks and clicks' approach), and branches remain a vital part of our proposition. We hope you agree that these extended hours are a real positive for you.

The new opening hours for the Winchester branch from 24 October, will therefore be:

  • Monday 9.30am – 4.30pm

  • Tuesday 9.30am – 4.30pm

  • Wednesday 9.30am – 4.30pm

  • Thursday 9.30am – 4.30pm

  • Friday 9.30am – 4.30pm

  • Saturday 9.00am – 12 noon

  • Sunday & Bank Holidays - Closed

We thank you again for your patience while we undertook this refurbishment, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

Original notice: August 2023

We are delighted to announce that we will be undertaking substantial improvements to our Winchester branch this Autumn, as part of our branch network modernisation plans.

Due to the limited space, and to keep everyone safe, we will need to close the branch for the period of the building works, which are expected to take approximately 5-6 weeks.

We can now confirm that the branch will temporarily close on Friday 1 September 2023 at 3.00pm and the refurbished branch will reopen at 10.00am on Monday 24 October 2023.

The refurbishment will provide our members with a more modern and welcoming environment in which to interact with our branch team.
