Society celebrates 25 years of continuous service anniversary

Newbury Building Society has honoured a member of its staff following 25 years of continuous service.

Clare Taylor, Area Manager for the Basingstoke region, joined the Society in 1993 after leaving college. Her career started as a Branch Assistant in Alton, moving to the Aldershot branch a few years later as Branch Manager before returning to Alton in the same role.

CeMap qualified and a registered Mortgage Advisor for the past 18 years, Clare was further promote in 2012 to her current role in which she oversees the operational running of the branches in the Hampshire area – Andover, Basingstoke, Alton, Winchester and Wokingham.

Clare commented: “25 years has gone so quickly for me; the Society has changed in terms of technology and services that we offer, but our values remain the same around mutuality and providing great customer service. When I started providing mortgage advice, the quotations were hand written and very basic compared with what we have to run through today; how we assess a mortgage was completely different and of course the mortgage rates were much higher.

Reflecting on her favourite part of her job, Clare added: “It is fantastic to have long standing relationships with our mortgage and savings customers; guiding them through the various stages of their financial lives and the fact that we continue to be their first port of call. It is always particularly satisfying to help a first time buyer on the road to owning their first home to hear that a customer has come to you through a recommendation. This confirms to me that we remain approachable and we are getting things right for customers.”

Roland Gardner, Chief Executive of Newbury Building Society said: “Clare’s dedication to the Society is significant and I have enjoyed watching her career flourish over 25 years. Her industry knowledge is second-to-none and her loyalty to the Society and its members is tremendous. Clare is a highly regarded member of the branch network and is fondly acknowledged by both her colleagues and the many members she has served over the years. I am delighted to recognise her achievements and look forward to many more years of service.”

Following a presentation at head office, Roland presented Clare with a gift in recognition of her achievement.
