Crème de la crème – National Housing Awards 2017

This year’s National Housing Awards 2017 – known for being the housing sector’s very own Oscars - once again recognised excellence in affordable housing and celebrated quality, innovation, creativity and progression during a glamourous ceremony earlier this month.

As a Society, we are passionate about supporting accessible and affordable housing for all. We were delighted and proud to sponsor the award for Best Small Development which had been designed to recognise the contribution affordable home ownership has made to its local community.

Hotly contended, competition was fierce with five worthy developments shortlisted for the award after a vigorous nomination process. Criteria for the award included: demonstrating how the development met the needs of the local market, how design features made the most of the site’s potential, how local considerations were taken into account and proven innovation to support people into home ownership.

But, there could only be one winner.

Our very own Phillippa Cardno, Operations and Sales Director, was pleased to award the accolade to Dolphin Living for its Lanhill Road development, part of Westminster City Council’s Home Ownership Accelerator scheme. A stylist new build comprised of 16 high quality apartments – 12 of which have been specifically categorised as affordable housing – is a short walk from Maida Vale Tube station, placing it in one of London’s most desirable areas.

An innovative development, the scheme continues to play its part in lessening the UK’s housing crisis as well as help Londoners and London’s economy further build affordable housing for all.

Congratulations to all those shortlisted and to the team at Dolphin Living for scooping up the top prize.

We’re already looking forward to next year’s event.
