A fundraising frenzy for Newbury Building Society branches

It's been a busy few months across the Society, with plenty of exciting fundraising activities taking place at head office and our branches.

From cake sales to 30km bike rides, our people have been getting stuck into challenges and activities across the board to raise money for local charities and good causes. Read on to find out what we've been upto...

Coffee Morning for Macmillan Cancer Care

Employees at our head office in Newbury raised £390 for Macmillan Cancer Care with a very popular coffee morning, which featured a hotly contested bake-off competition, as well as a raffle with prizes donated from across the business.

Finance Director Darren Garner was eventually crowned Star Baker for his sumptuous salted caramel cake - an achievement which took him by surprise as it was only his second ever attempt at a homemade bake!

#30for30 Challenge for St Michael's Hospice

In September, the Basingstoke branch team took on a variety of 30-themed challenges to support St Michael's Hospice, their charity partner, in their 30th year. The team got stuck into a vairety of personal challenges including extra cycling, walking and swimming and eventually raised nearly £600!

Bubble Rush Run for Helen and Douglas House

Employees from our Abingdon and Didcot branches had a fun, foamy time supporting their charity partner, Helen and Douglas House, at their annual Bubble Rush Run in Cutteslowe Park, Oxford.

Sponsored walk for Sue Ryder Duchess of Kent Hospice

In October, our Wokingham branch team put on their walking shoes to tackle a sunny 8km walk along the Thames path in in aid of their charity partner, Sue Ryder - Duchess of Kent Hospice, raising an amazing total of £600.

Your incredible donation is equivalent to funding 24 hours of expert care so that someone can spend their final days in familiar surroundings, with treasured memories and their family.

Cake sale for Trinity Winchester

Last but certainly not least, Ana Clarke, one of our Mobile Customer Service Advisers, recently decided to put on her own bake sale for Winchester branch's charity partner - Trinity, raising a brilliant £75. The sweet treats included Ana's signature bake - a cake originating from Macedonia.

Donating to a charity is a major mood-booster. I enjoy helping and taking part in different charity events - this year Winchester branch is supporting Trinity and baking some cakes and raising money for them made me feel happier and fulfilled. Even if each of us donate a few hours every other month, it will make a huge difference in the lives of others.
