Milestone anniversary for Society’s Chief Executive

Chief Executive, Roland Gardner, celebrated 30 years of continuous service to the Society on Monday 23 January 2017.

Roland started his career with the Society as the Area Manager for the Society's Newbury and Hungerford branches and in 2000 he was promoted to the Executive team in Head Office. He was then appointed to the Board of Directors in September 2006 and as Chief Executive on 1 February 2007.

Roland has led Newbury Building Society through a period of rapid change and growth that has seen the Society’s assets increase by 50% whilst also significantly improving the Society’s capital ratios.

In presenting Roland with gifts to mark the occasion, the Society’s Chairman Peter Brickley congratulated Roland on his 30 years of service by saying:

"We are grateful to Roland for the outstanding contribution he has made to Newbury Building Society over the past 30 years. Roland has an innate understanding of the business and our members. He is passionate about what we do and this passion has been a driving-force in the Society's success over the last 30 years."

Roland said:

"I can honestly say that my first 30 years at the Society have passed incredibly quickly. I have the privilege and good fortune to work with a highly accomplished team of managers and staff, who collectively make my job a pleasure. I have been particularly proud of the Society’s financial achievements in recent years but I am equally proud of the quality of service we provide to our members too. I look forward to this continuing into the future."
