Staff at Newbury Building Society’s head office whisked up a treat for this year’s MacMillan Cancer Support’s coffee morning raising £186.64 for the charity.
From festive mulled wine fruit cake to crisp salmon and cream cheese bites, competition was fierce, as our amateur bakers fought for the title of ‘NBS Star Baker’.
However, there could only be one winner and Bronwyn Tucker, Senior Graphic Designer, took the title for her malteaser bitesize cupcakes.
Second place went to Nathan Bryan, Mortgage Underwriter for his famous lemon drizzle cupcakes, while Amba Garlick, Business Improvement Analyst, was awarded third for her savoury pizza pin wheels.
Jac Goddard, Mortgage Underwriting Assistant, was also crowned winner of the “how long is the sausage roll” competition, guessing the length of 47cm – only 2cms out of the actual length of 49cms.
After her win, a delighted Bronwyn said: “Look out Great British Bake Off – here I come!”
The Society’s coffee morning took place on Friday 5 October to support the charity’s biggest fundraising event to help raise money for people living with cancer.
