Newbury Building Society at Hungerford Food Festival

Newbury Building Society shows its support at this year’s Hungerford Food Festival.

Newbury Building Society joined in the festivities at this year’s Hungerford Food Festival, organised by HEAT (Hungerford Environmental Action Team). The event supports local food producers and took place on Sunday 5 October 2014 between 11am-3.30pm at Hungerford Town Hall and on the High Street.

The event played host to over 40 stalls of delicious street food and local produce, while live demonstrations from local chefs including Gert Pienaar, Head Chef of The Walmseley Restaurant, entertained the hungry hordes.

Although Barry Bear was unable to attend the event, members of the public were still able to win prizes on the Society’s Messy Money Mucky Dip game. Similar to the traditional lucky dip, people were encouraged to place their hands in some glorious goo to retrieve a numbered ball which would determine which prize they walked away with.

Office Manager for the Hungerford branch, Eve McDowell, said: “It wasn’t just the children who loved getting mucky in our pink Messy Money Mucky Dip – adults really enjoyed it too. We handed out over 70 goody bags and raised over £100 for the Society’s charity of the year, the Pink Ribbon Foundation, which is absolutely brilliant.”
