With Christmas fast approaching, are you ready to splash the cash? Check out our tips for sustainable spending.
If you believe you have been a victim of fraud or identity theft, you should report your concerns to Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 (24 hour hotline).
Make sure you also report suspicious activity to your bank and building society as quickly as possible so they can help protect your accounts.
If you have been a victim of fraud in the past, or have lost documents and devices containing sensitive information, you may wish to take out Protective Registration with CIFAS – an additional tool to fortify your protection. This works by placing a warning flag against your name and other personal details in the National Fraud Database. This alerts organisations – such as Newbury Building Society - that you have been a victim of fraud so extra precautions can be taken.
Getting your money back
Unfortunately, if you’re the victim of fraud you’re not always guaranteed to get your money back. However, you should still report the incident as soon as possible as there may be something your bank/local authorities can do to help you.
