Background and experience

I joined Newbury Building Society in 2021, as a member of Customer Support in the Mortgages department. An opportunity then arose for a secondment in the HR department which progressed to me working permanently in the HR team as an HR Assistant and then an HR Adviser. Working across business areas has given me a unique understanding of what we do and how our people need to be supported. The society has provided me with many opportunities to grow my skills and knowledge while collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders. Everyday provides an opportunity to learn and improve. 

Role and responsibilities

In my role I wear many hats. I partner managers in their recruitment campaigns ensuring we employ the right people for the right roles, whilst also ensuring the Society remains the employer of choice in our local area. Alongside this, I contribute to the general HR function which can range from payroll actions, data reporting and all the way to ensuring we achieve positive outcomes for both the Society and our employees in a number of areas. I enjoy the variety and depth of my role as well as the ability to engage a number of individuals across the business on a range of issues.
