Basingstoke branch shortlisted for community award

We are excited to announce that we have been shortlisted for an award at the Basingstoke Inspire Business Awards 2024.

The Basingstoke branch of Newbury Building Society has been shortlisted for the Business and Community Champion category, sponsored by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council.

“This nomination is testament to the wide range of community, volunteer, and charity work that the Basingstoke branch team organise and takes part in year after year,” said Lisa Wedge, Basingstoke Branch Manager.

“We absolutely love supporting our charity partner, St. Michael’s Hospice, and running community events and fundraisers in the branch. From volunteering at Beggarwood Park to organising our popular ‘Giving Tree’ campaign at Christmastime and getting involved in the amazing ‘We Support Deaf Awareness’ campaign, community involvement is a vital part of our work.

“I am so proud of the team for the innovative ideas they come up with to improve our local community in Basingstoke. They embody Newbury Building Society’s mutual ethos of supporting the people who live and work in our branch towns, so I am delighted we have been shortlisted for this Inspire award.”

Lisa Wedge, Branch Manager, presents a cheque to St. Michael's Hospice after a year of fundraising and community support by the Basingstoke branch team.

The winners will be announced at a special black tie ceremony at Oakley Hall Hotel on Thursday 11 July. Watch this space!
