£70,000-£75,000

  • Interview 1: 60-minute competency-based interview.
  • Interview 2: 60-minute interview with presentation.

Both interviews will be held at our head office in Newbury - we aim to interview successful applicants within 10 days. Feedback will be provided regardless of outcome.

We are looking for an experienced and strategic Head of Treasury to lead the day-to-day management of the Society’s liquidity, wholesale funding, and interest rate risk position.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this is an excellent opportunity to provide strategic analysis and commercial support, optimise performance and returns, and ensure the Society operates in accordance with regulatory requirements at all times.

  • Leading the Society’s treasury operations, including the day-to-day management of liquidity, wholesale funding, and interest rate positions.

  • Providing strategic analysis and commercial support to the CFO through management of the Society forecasting model and related stress testing activities.

  • Managing the Society’s liquidity and funding needs, ensuring resilience and effective use of resources.

  • Managing interest rate and basis risk within approved risk appetite and regulatory requirements.

  • Optimising commercial performance and returns while safeguarding the Society’s financial strength.

  • Meeting the Society’s internal and external reporting obligations, including insightful analysis for committees and executive stakeholders.

  • Managing and understanding risks and controls within the business, in accordance with relevant policies and procedures.

  • Leading, coaching, developing, and empowering the Treasury and Financial Planning teams.

  • Acting as subject matter expert for strategic projects and initiatives.

We are seeking someone who combines strong technical understanding with excellent leadership and relationship-building skills.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Experience of working in a banking or building society treasury team.

  • Strong understanding of building society liquidity and funding models, including wholesale funding.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the UK financial services regulatory framework.

  • Experience of managing liquidity, funding, interest rate, and basis risk positions.

  • Advanced Excel skills, including financial modelling, forecasting, stress testing, and scenario analysis.

  • Experience of managing, coaching, and developing others.

  • Strong analytical, commercial, and stakeholder communication skills.

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Progress towards or completion of a relevant treasury qualification, such as the Association of Corporate Treasurers qualification, CertBALM or similar.

  • Experience using treasury management and asset liability management systems such as ALMIS.

  • Experience managing relationships with the Bank of England, treasury brokers, counterparties and other external stakeholders.
