Our cake-tastic winners have been selected!

After some serious deliberation from our panel of judges and over 50 delicious looking entries to our Cake-tastic Calendar Competition, we have selected a winner and 11 runners-up!

We asked entrants to design a special 170th birthday cake for our upcoming anniversary year and we were delighted by the imaginative designs we received! We would like to thank everyone who took the time to enter and showcase their skills.

Entries came in from across our branch towns and from a range of ages, but in the end, there could only be one overall winner!

We’re pleased to announce that our Cake-tastic Calendar Competition winner is Yili, age 9, from Abingdon. Yili's colourful and detailed design will be featured on the front cover of our 2027 calendar and their cake will be made for real as part of our birthday celebrations in November by Newbury-based baker, Jake's Bakes.

Yili also wins a £50 Hobbycraft voucher, while the 11 runners-up take home a £25 Hobbycraft voucher and a special Newbury Building Society apron for future makes, bakes, and creative projects. Each of their designs will also feature in the calendar. 

When will calendars be available?

Calendars will land in our branches in late November and are available for a small donation to our branch charity partners - the suggested donation is £2.
