Background and experience

I joined Newbury Building Society in 2021, as a member of Customer Support in the Mortgages department. An opportunity then arose for a secondment in the HR department which progressed to me working permanently in the HR Team as an HR Assistant and then my current role, HR Business Partner. Working across business areas has given me a unique understanding of what we do and how our people need to be supported. The society has provided me with many opportunities to grow my skills and knowledge while collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders. Everyday provides an opportunity to learn and improve.

Role and responsibilities

In my role I wear many hats. I partner with managers on recruitment campaigns to ensure we employ the right candidates for the right roles, while also helping the Society maintain its position as the employer of choice in our local area. I support managers with employee relations cases, performance management, and data analysis to drive informed decision making. I also contribute to the broader HR function, which spans payroll, reporting, and papers. My work ensures we achieve positive outcomes for both the Society and our employees across a range of areas. I enjoy the variety and depth of my role, as well as the opportunity to engage with individuals across the business on a wide spectrum of topics.
