August 2024 marked an amazing thirty years at Newbury Building Society for our Director of Customer Service, Melanie Mildenhall.

Melanie joined the Society in 1994, starting her career as a customer service trainee in our branch network. She went on to work in several branch roles, as well as operations and marketing at head office in Newbury, before becoming Customer Service Manager in 2007. 

She went on to join our Executive Team in 2018 and is responsible for leading our customer service strategy and the Mortgage Underwriting and Operations functions in her current role.

Melanie was presented with a gift in celebration of her dedication to the Society at a presentation attended by more than thirty colleagues both in-person and remotely.

Melanie has had, and still has, a remarkable career at the Society. Beginning as graduate trainee in 1994, Melanie has worked in many parts of the business, both in our branch network and head office. Melanie is currently responsible for our customer service and credit risk functions. 

She has achieved an incredible amount in her career at the Society, in particular leading our customer service strategy and ensuring we provide the best level service and care to our customers. Described as ‘kind’, ‘compassionate’, and a ‘fountain of knowledge’ by her colleagues, she is a key member of the team. Congratulations, Melanie!
