The Government has confirmed that the annual Cash ISA allowance will remain at £20,000 from 6 April 2027, providing continued certainty for savers across the UK.

The decision means customers can continue to save up to £20,000 tax-free in Cash ISAs each tax year, helping them build financial resilience, save towards future goals, and make the most of their money.

Savers also have until 5 April 2027 to use any remaining ISA allowance for the current tax year.

A positive outcome for savers

We warmly welcome the Government's decision to maintain the £20,000 Cash ISA limit.

This is fantastic news for thousands who value Cash ISAs for building a financial safety net, making the most of their savings, and achieving their goals, whatever they may be.

It's also recognition of the case made by the Building Societies Association and the wider sector, which has highlighted the important role Cash ISAs play in supporting savers, first-time buyers, and funding mortgage lending.

Why Cash ISAs matter

Cash ISAs remain one of the UK's most popular savings products, allowing people to earn interest on their savings free from UK income tax. They play an important role in helping people:

  • Build emergency savings

  • Save for major life events and future plans

  • Grow their money in a tax-efficient way

  • Support the mutual sector's ability to lend to homebuyers and local communities

The confirmation of the £20,000 allowance provides welcome stability for savers and reassurance that Cash ISAs will continue to be a key part of the savings landscape.
