Making deposits into your savings accounts
We accept cash in all our branches.
You’re welcome to deposit coins into your Newbury Building Society savings account at any of our branches.
To help us process your deposit quickly, please sort and bag coins by type.
We have a limit of up to 3 full bags of coins, with an exception for our young savers who are saving their pennies. A full bag is:
• £1 or £2 coins – £20 per bag
• 50p or 20p coins – £10 per bag
• 10p or 5p coins – £5 per bag
• 2p or 1p coins – £1 per bag
We strongly advise not sending cash by post.
You can send a cheque payable to the account holder to our Head Office:
90 Bartholomew Street, Newbury, Berkshire, RG14 5EE, or take it to any of our branches.
You can use your debit card to make an instant deposit into your savings account through myaccounts/the App or in branch.
The Society uses NatWest bank to receive funds and providing you have given us the correct reference (your 10-digit Newbury Building Society account number) the funds will be credited to your mortgage or savings account. Please note, funds can take up to one working day to show in your Newbury Building Society account.
Your bank may have limits in place for faster payments and may require you to send your payment by a different payment system called CHAPS, so please check this for large payments. CHAPS details can be found on this page, or you can contact us for more information.
