Thatcham Festival Words of Recovery Competition

To enter the competition, fill out the entry form below.

As we emerge gingerly out of the shadows of a global pandemic, Thatcham Town Council in partnership with Newbury Building Society wish to capture in your words, the essence of your feelings during this period.

For example, what might you have missed? What have you lost and what are your hopes for the future?  Your feelings could be expressed in some choice words or maybe poetry.

There are two categories: Junior (Under 13) and Adult. We ask that you write down your words or poem in no more than 50 words, and send them to us with your name, age (if under 13) and contact details.  The words or poems which our judges feel capture our imagination will be invited to:

  • Be part of a Words of Recovery booklet

  • Invited to present at a live event on the opening and/or closing days of Thatcham Festival on Saturday October 9th and Sunday October 17th

  • Receive a National Book Token

Post or submit online entries to us, completing the form below, by Friday October 1st for a chance to perform your piece live at the Thatcham Festival or by October 29th for a chance to be in our Words of Recovery booklet.  Please read the Terms and Conditions prior to entering the competition.
