Wokingham battles the heatwave in 100km virtual-cycle challenge

Newbury Building Society’s Wokingham branch raised £314 for nominated branch charity, Sue Ryder, as part of its 100km Thames Path Challenge.

A gruelling virtual cycle ride in temperatures of nearly 30 degrees, the team paid homage to the flagship Thames Path Challenge event which encourages participants to walk or run 100km from Putney Bridge, London to Henley.

Debbie Gadd, Branch Manager at Newbury Building Society’s Wokingham branch said: “We are delighted to have raised over £300 for Sue Ryder! The team worked extremely hard to complete the 100km Thames Path Challenge in tough conditions and we greatly appreciate the support from our members who popped into branch and cheered us on. We would also like to thank Nuffield Health & Wellbeing Gym who kindly donated the static bike for us to be able to take part in the challenge."

Sue Ryder (1052076) is a national charity who provides person-centred hospice and neurological care for people facing life-changing illnesses.
