Barry Bear was the star attraction at Newbury Building Society’s Winchester branch as one of his Messy Money events rolled into town.
The Society’s Winchester branch hosted a free two day event on Thursday 24 July and Friday 25 July 2014 as part of its family-friendly initiative. Activities across the two days provided fun and entertainment for children and adults alike.
As well as having the chance to meet our loveable mascot Barry Bear, children were able to take part in our Messy Money Mucky Dip game – a slightly messier version of the traditional lucky dip. Participants had to dip one of their hands into gunge and retrieve a ball, with the number on that ball determining which prize they won. All proceeds from the game went to our charity of the year, the Pink Ribbon Foundation.
Alan Doney, branch assistant at our Winchester branch, said: “The two days were a success. A great deal of interest was shown by the parents and children, with over 60 people playing the Mucky Dip game. Once again, Barry Bear was the main man, and we look forward to hosting an even bigger and better event during the summer.”
A range of Barry story books, key rings and cuddly toys will appear at Messy Money events throughout the year.
