Employees from Newbury Building Society’s head office laced up their trainers and raised £980 for Alzheimer’s Society as they dashed through the streets of Newbury for the annual festive Santa Fun Run.
Courtney Lewington-Metcalfe, Linda Kite, Sammy Forrester, Katy Briggs, Kim Giles and Claire Gale from the Society’s Mortgages Customer Service department took part in the 5km run, which took the speedy Santa’s around the sites of Newbury including the Market Place, Parkway, Victoria Park, Northcroft and Speen.
Courtney said: “We decided to take part in the Santa Run because some of the members of our team had been doing the Couch to 5k programme and wanted to push themselves. We thought it would also be a great way to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society. We managed to raise £490 which the Society then fund matched to give a grand total of £980. We really enjoyed the event even if we did get some strange looks when running through the high street in our Santa outfits!”
The event was organised and assisted by Newbury Rotary Club volunteers.
