Society tickled pink by fundraising efforts in 2016

Members of staff from Newbury Building Society presented the Pink Ribbon Foundation with a cheque totalling £1,215.34 on Tuesday 7 February at the Society’s Head Office in Newbury.

The fundraising was undertaken in a number of ways, including Easter events in branches, the Society pledging 50p for every vote cast in the Annual General Meeting, and another £2,700 was raised by seven brave staff members took on a sponsored skydive last September.

The Pink Ribbon Foundation’s mission is to fund projects and provide financial support to UK charities which relieve the needs of people who are suffering from, or who have been affected by breast cancer. They also work to advance the understanding of breast cancer, its early detection and treatment. To date, the Society has raised over £16,000 for the charity since their partnership began in 2012.

Lisa Allen, Head of Corporate Partnerships for The Pink Ribbon Foundation says, “The Pink Ribbon Foundation has valued the support received from the whole team at Newbury Building Society since the partnership began in 2012. The enthusiasm and hard work by all concerned has resulted in donations year on year which have made a huge difference to those living with a breast cancer diagnosis.

“The Pink Ribbon Foundation has very little infrastructure and so the money raised by the team at Newbury, their business partners and customers, directly supports those that need it the most.

“Thank you for your kind and very generous donations and we look forward to continuing the partnership in the future via our sporting initiative, SHOOT4PINK – see you on the netball court!"

Emma Simms, Marketing and Communications Manager at the Society says, “We are proud to have supported the Pink Ribbon Foundation and their work by raising funds for them over the last four years. Staff at the Society have enjoyed coming up with exciting ways to raise the money, and although we will be supporting 8 other charities as part of our new charity scheme in 2017, we will still be supporting the foundation by hosting a Shoot4Pink Netball Tournament this year.”
