Newbury Building Society and two of its employees are finalists at this year’s Rising Stars Awards, hosted by Newbury-based training academy, West Berkshire Training Consortium.
The awards recognise the success of its learners and their employers following the completion of various apprenticeships.
In the running for three of the eight awards, the Society is nominated for Medium Employer of the Year (sponsored by EJBC Chartered Accountants) as well as individual awards for Senior Branch Manager, Jane Bosher for Mentor of the Year (sponsored by Bayer Plc), and Marketing Assistant, Alice Dearlove for Apprentice of the Year 16 – 18 (sponsored by Benchmark Furniture).
Alice who graduated with a distinction in level 3 business administration said: “Being shortlisted out of all the hard-working apprentices is a surprise, but it wouldn’t be possible without Newbury Building Society taking a chance on me to begin with! I really enjoyed my time being an apprentice and having the opportunity to gain a new qualification. The help and support I received not only from WBTC but also from the Society, really helped me maximum by time between obtaining a qualification and working full-time.”
Jane’s apprentice, Ryan Marcham, graduated with a distinction as a Customer Service Practitioner and became a permanent member of her team based at the Society’s Thatcham branch.
Jane said: “I am extremely excited and proud of my apprentice and the work we have achieved together. Also proud of becoming a finalist as a mentor, this is something I really enjoy. I love to help others achieve their goals and help them exceed all expectations.”
The winners will be announced on Wednesday 28 October 2020.
