Bake off fun for World Cupcake day raises dough for Alzheimer’s Society

Newbury Building Society dusted off their aprons and put their baking skills to the test for a ‘Cupcakes of the World’ themed bake-off for Alzheimer’s Society

The staff at the Newbury head office took part in producing a colourful, creative display of cakes in order to raise as much money as possible for Alzheimer’s. On show, were fabulous arrays of sweet treats from indulgent chocolate cupcakes to zingy lemon drizzle!

After a tough round of judging, a winner was decided and the cakes were made available to purchase for a donation. Congratulations to Jessica Stacey who took first prize with her football themed decorated cupcakes.

Staff donations raised a magnificent total of £90.93 – which will be matched by the Society to make a grand total of £181.86.

Emma Lavers, Marketing Support Manager and member of the Alzheimer’s fundraising team said: “I am so delighted with the effort everyone has gone to for our cupcake day, there were some amazing creations. I hope the money raised will help in some way towards the excellent work Alzheimer’s Society does within our local area. Huge thanks to everyone who got involved.

In the UK, someone develops dementia every three minutes. Working together will help beat it; all donations will help support the tireless work done to find new treatments and ultimately a cure for dementia. Since 2016, the Alzheimer’s Society has raised £1.4 Million.
