Thank you for your support

As we start to move through the Government’s plan to post-Covid normality, we would like to say thank you to our members for all the support, kindness and patience you have shown and continue to show colleagues and fellow members in the last year.

We also want to reassure you that we’re still here for you. Whether it’s online, over the phone, or face to face we will continue to support you with your savings and mortgage needs.

If you’re thinking about coming into branches

The good news is that we are extending our branch hours from Wednesday 14 April to:

  • Monday - 9am to 3pm
  • Tuesday - 9am to 3pm
  • Wednesday - 9.30am to 3pm
  • Thursday - 9am to 3pm
  • Friday - 9am to 3pm

From Saturday 17 April, our Abingdon, Hungerford and Winchester branches will re-open their doors and therefore all branches will be open on Saturdays from 9am to 12pm.We may still have to make changes locally (although this has lessened more recently), so please use our branch
finder
to check opening times for your branch before you travel.

We continue to ask members to keep visits to essential transactions only whilst the Government continues to roll out the vaccination programme and to wear facemasks and observe social distancing measures inside and outside branches.

What you can do from the comfort of your own home

Many of you have already registered for our myaccounts online service. This enables you to view your account balance / transactions; open a new account; make a withdrawal to another Newbury Building Society account or a nominated current account. Alternatively, we can give you some information over the telephone with identification and verification checks, so if you would prefer to do this, please telephone your local branch.

If you need help with your mortgage payments

We are very aware that some borrowing members may be continuing to feel the effects of Covid-19 on their income. Applications for the Government payment deferral (holiday) scheme ended on 31 March 2021; however we are still here to help.We recommend you contact our
payment support team at the earliest opportunity, so that we can understand your circumstances and tailor support for you. Please refer to our mortgage payment support web page, phone us on 01635 555588 or email us at paymentsupport@newbury.co.uk. When you contact us it would be
helpful for you to have details of your income and expenditure. You may want to use our handy household budget planner (bottom right of web page) before you contact us, to understand what you can afford to pay towards your mortgage.

Stay safe from fraud

Criminals continue to take advantage of the Covid-19 situation to trick people into sharing personal and/or financial information through emails, texts and phone calls. We will ask you to confirm personal and transactional information when you phone us to ask financial information about your account, in order to verify who you are. If we call you, and you are in any doubt about the validity of the call, we welcome you to put the phone down and call us back once you have checked our telephone numbers on our website. We will not ask you for your online security information (password / memorable
information) or for you to transfer money to another account for “safekeeping” due to potentially fraudulent activity. For more information on how to stay safe from fraud, please see the Take-Five to Stop Fraud website, which has some useful tips and guidance.

Keeping each other safe

Please continue to keep yourself and others safe and let us know if there is more we can do for you. If you’re supporting another Newbury Building Society member with their finances, thank you. If they don’t normally receive emails from us, feel free to share any of this information with them.

Thank you for taking the time to read this email. If you have any other questions, please contact us.
