New kit kicks off Hungerford Town FC under-9s training sessions in style

Hungerford Town FC’s under-9s squad has been kitted out with warm training wear ahead of the winter months, thanks to Newbury Building Society’s Community Support Scheme.

The £500 donation will enable the squad to continue training outside during the colder weather; which can be difficult for the young players.

The club is coordinated by parents who volunteer out of the love for the club and game. The donation will help the club keep membership fees low to fit with the ethos of being fully inclusive.

Chris Risdale, Coach of the Hungerford Town FC under-9s said: “Confidence forms an essential part of a child’s development and this is also essential to the growth of a young football player. If an individual can feel a shared identity within a team, they will be capable of overcoming any problems or challenges they face. The new kit bought through the kind sponsorship from Newbury Building Society has given the team and individuals a starting platform for their journey as a Hungerford football player. Their increase in confidence and team cohesiveness has already been evidenced. Thank you!”

About Newbury Building Society, Chris continued: “I have always heard positive things about the Society as organisation from people who have accounts, as well as acquaintances who are employees of Newbury Building Society. I have been very impressed with how willing the Society is in supporting local initiatives, such as our football team.”

Emma Simms, Marketing and Communications Manager at Newbury Building Society said: “We’re delighted the Hungerford Town FC under-9s squad like their new training kit; the players look smart and professional!”
