Colleagues from Newbury Building Society’s Thatcham and Basingstoke branches stepped up last week to help raise funds for their charity partners.
The Basingstoke branch collected donations from generous shoppers at the Festival Place shopping centre for St Michael’s Hospice. In total, £183.22 was collected during the day. This will be matched by the Society’s executive board to give a grand total of £366.44.
Employees at the Thatcham branch cooked up a variety of delicious sweet treats and hosted a bake sale in aid of Newbury Cancer Care. £108.32 was raised in total which will be matched to £216.64.
Jane Bosher, Senior Branch Manager at Newbury Building Society’s Thatcham branch said: “The team and I feel it is really important to support local charities who give so many of our customers and our families help during times of need. So many of us in the community are touched by cancer and need the fantastic support of the local unit at Newbury Cancer Care. We all thoroughly enjoyed baking for the event and seeing the faces of our customers and local community when they walked in to a table of goodies! Everyone was so generous and enjoyed the cakes. This is definitely an event we would love to do again may be nearer Christmas!”
Ana Clarke, Mobile Customer Service Adviser at Newbury Building Society’s Basingstoke branch said: “I believe the opportunity to improve the lives of other is a privilege and one which comes with a sense of obligation. Knowing I am helping others is hugely empowering and it makes me fill happier and more fulfilled. With our support we help the charity move forward and aid those who need access to the amazing support on offer. I hope it makes people remember they’re not alone.”
