Team members from Newbury Building Society’s Wokingham branch visited partner charity, Sue Ryder’s Wokingham Day Hospice to help brighten up the outdoor seated area for patients.
Charlotte Hall and Debbie Gadd, Branch Managers were joined by five members of their team Sue Murgatroyd, Justine Ransom, Keryn Rosolemos, Holly Webster and Alastair Boyd Smith who spent time sanding down and painting the tired looking garden benches at the hospice.
Abi Hurst, Community Fundraiser at Sue Ryder Wokingham Day Hospice said: “A huge thank you to the Wokingham team's amazing work. The benches look amazing and the team worked so hard! I can't thank you enough for your great work the fabulous fundraising you do for us. We couldn't run our services without you.”
The visit to the school was part of the Society’s employee volunteering programme, an initiative which gives employees a 2-day volunteering allowance to support a charity, community project or local institution of their choice.
Justine said: “It was great to help out at Sue Ryder again, this time we were asked to spruce up some benches. We made them look so much better and they are now much more pleasant for people to sit on and enjoy being outside in the garden. The Wokingham team enjoyed working together outside for the day too!”
Keryn agreed and commented: “I hope the residents at Sue Ryder in Wokingham enjoy using their garden benches as much as we enjoyed a few hours in the sunshine giving the benches a ‘makeover’.”
