Gone but not forgotten: Wokingham walks for Sue Ryder

Members of Newbury Building Society’s Wokingham branch took part in this year’s Forget-Me-Not walk in support of charity partner, Sue Ryder

The much-loved event, sponsored by Balfour Beatty, helped raise money for the Duchess of Kent hospice and the day services it provides to the Wokingham and Newbury area. The funds raised will help the hospice continue to provide care for local people and their loved ones facing life-changing illnesses.

Following fundraising efforts, the branch raised £340 in which the Society will fund match to a total of £680.

The 5km and 10km walk took place at Beale Wildlife Park and Gardens in Berkshire, near the backdrop of the River Thames on Sunday 12 May 2019. The route took the team through stunning woodland and along the grassy banks of the river.

Wokingham branch employees Debbie Gadd, Keryn Rosolemos and Holly Webster completed the 5km route, while Justine Ransom and Charlotte Hall finished the 10km.

Debbie and Charlotte, both Branch Managers at Newbury Building Society’s Wokingham branch said: “Thank you to our members who kindly donated and supported us. We hope our donation will help continue the crucial work the Duchess of Kent hospice undertakes for people in the local Berkshire area. A vitally important organisation, we are proud to help give something back as well as pledge our support to the great people at Sue Ryder.”

Sue Ryder (1052076) is a national charity who provides person-centred hospice and neurological care for people facing life-changing illnesses.
