Head office donates over £1800 for Alzheimer’s Society

Newbury Building Society’s head office was delighted to present Alzheimer’s Society a cheque for £1818, following a range of fundraising activities during 2018.

Fundraising activities included in-house events such as Halloween celebrations, monthly casual dress Fridays and popular bake sales, to name only a few.

Tim Waters, Alzheimer’s Society Community Fundraiser for Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, said: "As the UK’s leading dementia charity, we work tirelessly to challenge perceptions, fund research, and improve and provide care and support. However, too many are facing the condition alone without adequate support. We urgently need to find a cure and offer help and understanding to people affected. With such fantastic partnerships with organisations such as Newbury Building Society we will continue to push for the cure and to support people living with dementia to live well.”

Deborah Springer, Finance Officer – Regulatory Reporting at the Society’s head office also took part in the charity’s annual Memory Walk event; undertaking an impressive 8.5km journey in total.

Deborah said: “We are delighted to award Alzheimer’s Society with a cheque worth over £1800 following a year of fundraising for the charity. Alzheimer’s Society is a fantastic charity which is close to many of our hearts and we hope the money raised is beneficial to those the in need of help and support. The amount raised is a testament to how hard head office has worked to raise as much money as possible during 2018.”
