Continuous service recognition for two Newbury Building Society employees

Newbury Building Society has recently honoured two of its employees for their commitment to the Society following a combined tenure of 50 years’ service.

Kim Smyth, Underwriting Assistant, has worked for the Society for 30 years while Hannah Westlake, Senior Mortgage Writer, has completed 20 years of continuous service.

Kim joined the Society in 1988 as a Receptionist, a position she held for 18 years, before moving to the Underwriting team.

Hannah joined the Society in 1998 as an Administration Assistant in the Customer Services team and later moved to the Underwriting team to qualify as an underwriter. She was promoted to Senior Mortgage Underwriter in 2008.

Kim commented: “Over the last 30 years the Society has changed so much. I still type out the valuations but when I first started I had to use a typewriter using coloured paper with carbon paper. We also had different coloured tippex!

Hannah agreed and said: “The biggest change has been the two implementations of new computer systems - both projects I was involved in. Without a doubt, the best part of working for the Society is the people. Everyone is very supportive and friendly.

Roland Gardner, Chief Executive of Newbury Building Society said: “Both Kim and Hannah’s dedication to the Society is remarkable. To achieve 50 years of service between them is a tremendous effort in modern times and shows great loyalty to the business. Both have grown their careers substantially with the Society and their valuable experience and expertise helps new employees benefit from their industry knowledge. I am delighted to recognise their achievements and look forward to many more years of service from both of them.

Following a presentation at head office, Roland presented both Kim and Hannah with a gift in recognition of their achievements.
