Rosie continues to rock with Newbury Building Society for The Rosemary Appeal

Newbury Building Society is delighted to have awarded The Rosemary Appeal £214, following a month of hosting “Rocking Rosie” and selling over 200 raffle tickets to staff and customers.

The specially crafted rocking horse, which will be won by one lucky raffle ticket holder, is part of a campaign to raise £4.5million for a state-in-the-art renal dialysis and cancer care unit at the West Berkshire Community Hospital. Once open, it will provide essential facilities to the local community, including day therapy, chemotherapy IV therapies and a CT scanner. The unit is under construction and will open in late spring 2018.

Tim Barton, Chairman of The Rosemary Appeal Fundraising Committee said: “The Rosemary Appeal fundraising committee is grateful to the Society for their effort and support over recent months with the Rocking Rosie appeal. We would like to extend our thanks to all those who purchased raffle tickets and therefore donated to the £4.5million needed to build and equip an extension to the West Berkshire Community Hospital for specialist cancer and renal care. The total amount raised is gratefully received and we look forward to working with Newbury Building Society again in the future.”

Newbury Building Society is just one of several local businesses in the local area to host Rosie the rocking horse, including Jones Robinsons estate agent.

Chloe Somerville, Branch Assistant at Newbury Building Society said: “As a local business we are proud to be supporting such a local worthy cause. It is wonderful that so many local businesses are willing to take part in something that is close to people’s hearts. We have had an overwhelming response from customers purchasing raffle tickets and have managed to raise an incredible sum.”

The Rosemary Appeal is a project of Newbury and District Cancer Care Trust (1157796).
