Congratulations to Berkshire County Cricket team - champions again!

Newbury Building Society are proud sponsors of Berkshire County Cricket team this month.

Berkshire County Cricket team have made minor county cricket history after lifting the Unicorns Trophy with a four-wicket victory over Lincolnshire at Wormsley and then proceeded on to retain and win the Unicorns Championship title when they overcame the same opponents at Banbury in a four-day game, winning by eight wickets.

Skipper James Morris said: "No county has won the two competitions in the same season, so we have become history makers." Berkshire have become the first county to win both MCCA competitions in the same season.

It was also a great final for Jack Davies, (pictured above) who at only 17, blasted an ultra-stylish unbeaten century to help Berkshire win the Unicorns Championship title for the second year running, both times at the expense of Lincolnshire.

It is a tremendous end to the most successful season in Berkshire's history.  Including the two play-off matches with Lincolnshire, the side captained by James Morris and coached by his Datchet CC colleague Tom Lambert have now gone 20 championship games unbeaten and this season kept a 100-per-cent record in competitive one-day matches.

Huge congratulations to the team on this amazing season and winning the double.
