What rate do you get?

Time deposit is a guaranteed fixed rate, fixed term investment on the money markets, arranged by our Treasury Department.

As money market rates fluctuate daily and depend on the amount you invest and the term chosen, we cannot give you details on this website. To find out what today's rates are, you can contact our Treasury Department on 01635 555707 or email treasury@newbury.co.uk.

Interest is fixed and is paid at the end of the fixed rate term.

Is it for you?

Consider our Time deposit if you:

• Are an individual or company looking for a high rate of interest for a lump sum of money.
• Want a fixed rate of interest over a term of 1 to 24 months.
• Have a minimum of £50,000 and no more than £2 million to invest.
• Do not need access to your money during the period of the investment.

You need to consider how much you want to invest as once the Time deposit is arranged, you cannot add to it. You can, however, set up further time deposits.

As this investment is arranged on a deposit basis, you will not be a member of Newbury Building Society (unless you also have a share account).

Time deposit is available to anyone, regardless of age. It is also available to limited companies. You can open an account either in your own name or as a joint account with someone else.

What access can you have to your money?

As this is a fixed term investment, you cannot make withdrawals. On maturity, our Treasury Department will contact you to reinvest your money or arrange for it to be transferred to your bank account by CHAPS (Clearing House Automated Payments System) transfer. No charge is made for this service.
