The Newbury based lender achieved the accolade for the help they give first time buyers in West Berkshire, Hampshire and throughout Central Southern England.

Newbury Building Society has developed a range of initiatives to help local first time buyers, these include;

• First Step Next Step - a scheme developed with West Berkshire council to help local people who are unable to raise the full deposit. 
• First Time Buyer Offset – an innovative mortgage where family members can help you buy your first home with just a 5% deposit.
• Mortgage Help Centres - available in eight branches, where staff will help answer any mortgage questions, whether they are a Newbury Building Society member or not.

In addition they were recognised for their regular seminars, events and other special products for first time buyers. 

Roger Knight, Lending Manager for Newbury Building Society, was presented with the award by Jo Atkin, Editor of Mortgage Finance Gazette at the ceremony in London.  He said,  “We are committed to helping local people buy their first home and I’m thrilled that our work has created such an impact that it has been recognised nationally.”
