Business manager, Ros Comins and the winner, James Atkins

The competition was organised by a team of Design and Technology teachers from West Berkshire schools led by Jenny Day from Little Heath School, Tilehurst and sponsored by Newbury Building Society.

This year saw the launch of a new format, which took the form of a photographic exhibition showcasing our students creative designs or products. The exhibition was held at Mary Hare School in Newbury.

Creativity is one of the key concepts at the heart of Design and Technology education in the 21st century. This competition provides schools with the opportunity to celebrate the success of their pupils.

James Atkins, from Newbury, won the prize for technical excellence with his amazing rocking chair. The innovating design and professional finish impressed the judges.

Ros Comins, Business Manager for Newbury Building Society, presented James with his voucher and said, “We like to get involved with the local community, especially when it is encouraging children to be creative.”
